Framework Question: Visualizing Group Thinking in Real-Time

04.09.2024 • 2 minutes

Wooclap has recently developed a new “Framework" question. This feature allows presenters and participants to visualize group thinking on a digital canvas, recreating the traditional brainstorming experience on a whiteboard, but in a digital and interactive way.

Creating a Visual Workspace

Before introducing Framework, visualization methods were often limited to simple categorization of responses by column, which prevented a true physical visualization of group thinking. The rigid structuring of these methods did not allow for capturing the group dynamics necessary for effective brainstorming. Framework changes this by offering a structured visualization that faithfully reproduces the collective thinking process.

The main objective of this feature is to create a visual workspace where ideas can be manipulated, organized, and discussed in real-time, just like with post-its on a board during an in-person workshop. This makes the experience much more immersive and engaging for participants, without requiring them to adapt to a new tool that might destabilize them.

Visually Concluding Group Reflection

One of the main educational advantages of the Framework is its ability to allow participants to leave with a clear image of the consensual response obtained at the end of the reflection session. Unlike traditional tools, where results can sometimes be abstract or hard to remember, the Framework question ensures that conclusions are visualized tangibly. The answers selected after the presenter's discussion are pinned on the chosen visual, offering an integrated visual debriefing. This process helps learners better retain the discussion results by providing them with a visual representation of what was agreed upon.

This feature is particularly useful in contexts where it is crucial to select the most relevant responses, such as when using a SWOT matrix. At a glance, the entire group can see which responses were deemed most important and why, making it easier to understand and remember the discussed concepts.

Enhancing Learning Consolidation

From an educational standpoint, the Framework is based on well-established neuroscience principles. It encourages learning consolidation by allowing participants to be actively involved in concluding sessions. This active participation is a key factor in the memorization and learning process, as it involves participants in creating the final response, thereby strengthening their engagement and understanding.

Moreover, this question does not focus on the concept of right or wrong but on collective thinking, which removes the pressure of judgment and encourages freer and more creative participation.
