Saint Joseph University in Beirut has embraced artificial intelligence to redefine language learning and enhance personalized educational experiences.
Within the Faculty of Languages and Translation, AI tools have been integrated into English courses, revolutionizing how content is created and delivered.
Murf Studio, for example, was used to produce native-like audio recordings for listening comprehension tests.
We’ve used AI to generate content and create audio recordings for listening activities. With AI, we can customize audio characteristics like accent and speed, ensuring students are exposed to native-like listening experiences.

AI tools have also enabled faculty to create personalized writing prompts aligned with students’ interests and proficiency levels. Instead of assigning a single topic to an entire class, teachers use ChatGPT to generate multiple prompts.
This individualized approach increases engagement and fosters creativity.
We personalized the prompts so students could write about topics they cared about. This eliminated the need for teachers to create dozens of unique prompts manually,” explained Rosine Zgheib Abi Rizk
I has also transformed the feedback process, making it more personalized and iterative.
Students receive targeted feedback from ChatGPT, which allows them to refine their drafts and improve their writing skills over time.
